Princess of Thailand Visit

Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of Thailand visited the Sage campuses on May 21-22, 2009. "We are very grateful to Her Royal Highness for making time to visit Sage," said President Susan Scrimshaw, a family friend of the Thai Royal Family. "We look forward to long partnerships between our communities and our educational institutions in both countries."

Troy Campus

Women of Influence Breakfast President Susan Scrimshaw hosted a welcome breakfast for Her Royal Highness at Vail House for "women of influence" including Shirley Jackson, president of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute; Sally Lawrence, Sage's vice president of academic affairs; and several members of the princess' entourage.
Troy Campus Tour Russell Sage College Student Body President Erin Menzer welcomed Her Royal Highness to campus and presented her with flowers as the princess set off on a tour of the Troy campus, followed by members of the media.
Nursing Department - SIM Lab Demonstration Kathy Buono, assistant professor of nursing, showed Her Royal Highness how the high-tech simulation mannequins are used in teaching nursing. Also involved in the demonstration were assistant professors of nursing Michelle Hayward and Kathleen Kelly.
INVEST Tour Her Royal Highness toured Evident Technologies, flagship resident of Sage's Incubator for New Ventures in Emerging Sciences and Technologies (INVEST). CEO Clint Ballinger presented her with "the world's first purple LEDs" (purple is the princess' signature color).
Women's History & Women in the World Russell Sage College Dean Sharon Robinson gave a presentation about Sage's history of women's education and the innovative WORLD curriculum, which stands for Women Owning Responsibility for Learning and Doing.

Albany Campus

Luncheon Sage College of Albany student Amber Winslow welcomed Her Royal Highness to the Albany campus. Congressman Paul Tonko, Assemblyman Jack McEneny, and Rensselaer County Executive Kathy Jimino attended the luncheon, as well as members of the Sage Board of Trustees and Cabinet, Dean Kevin Stoner, and Sage faculty members. Special guest Emshika Alberini, a 2005 Sage Graduate School graduate and native of Thailand, and her family were honored to meet their nation's princess at Sage.

Student Art Exhibit - Opalka GalleryJim Richard Wilson, director of the Opalka Gallery, gave Her Royal Highness a guided tour of the exhibit of artwork by Sage's Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) graduates.
Art + Design Building Tour Visual arts professors Linda Morrell and Chris Jordan gave Her Royal Highness a tour of Sage's Art & Design Building.
