Interior Design students win PAVE grants

PAVE - The planning and Visual Education Partnership has awarded The Sage Colleges Interior Design Program with a 2010 Helping Hands Fund Grant. Created in 2008, the PAVE Helping Hand Fund provides funds to accredited educational institutions to enhance the quality of programs and services for students entering into careers in the retail design and planning, visual merchandising, and interior design industries. Sage College of Albany was awarded $6500 for the creation of a "Smart Studio." The Interior Design program will transform and upgrade its existing technology procuring a SMART Board Interactive White Board. The technology will enable a multi-purpose studio environment to conduct lecture, critiques, and interactive design and drawing experiences. To be eligible for a grant, Sage participated in the PAVE's 2010 Student Design Competition, sponsored by Godiva Chocolatier Inc. Along with the grant, Lilia Duran a Junior in the interior design program was awarded a $1000 academic scholarship for her participation in the competition.
