Biology Labs

The Biology Department occupies the first and second floors of Science Hall at Russell Sage College. A grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) allowed us to renovate the labs. Our labs include a general biology lab with preserved specimens and models, a physiology lab equipped with computers and physiographs as well as microscopes and skeletons, a molecular biology/genetics lab with DNA fingerprinting capability, a neurobiology lab with sophisticated electrophysiology equipment, a cell biology lab with tissue and cell culturing equipment:

a greenhouse, an herbarium for storing preserved plant specimens, and an environmental science lab with various environmental monitoring devices.

A unique feature is our large senior research lab which is used for senior independent projects. The lab contains 14 student workstations equipped with a fast internet link. Our newest addition is a Zeiss research microscope funded by a generous donation from Nancy Mueller, RSC Alumna:
