BA in Biology

What can you do with a degree in Biology?
- You can be a Biology Premed Major and prepare for medical school, veterinary school, or physician assistant school.
- You can prepare for Graduate School to become a scientist or professor.
- You can prepare to be a high school Biology Teacher or a K-6 teacher specializing in Life Science.
- You can enter the Doctorate in Physical Therapy program or the Masters in Occupational Therapy.
Careful planning with your advisor, a Biology faculty member, prepares you for an exciting and successful future!

Typically in your third year you will take BIO 358 Proseminar and BIO 359 Research Methods. In these courses you learn to design experiments, interpret results, and write research proposals. You also learn to give presentations.
In your final year (yippee!) you complete a two-semester senior projectand present your work at the annual Senior Research Symposium. Some students present their work at a regional or national meeting (our students go to NCUR and Sigma Xi conferences). Or, perhaps, you will publish a paper with your faculty supervisor.
You might qualify to complete an internship in a research laboratory or hospital. These experiences will help you get into graduate and professional programs or get jobs (Check out our alumnae!).
