Esteves School of Education
Our mission is to to prepare highly effective leaders, educators, teachers, school counselors, and clinicians who support, encourage, and create learning environments that meet the learning needs of all students; who strive to include students with disabilities with all necessary supports; who value diversity; who are reflective, and who are knowledgeable about best practices.
The Esteves School of Education offers a variety of programs that are accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE), first in 2001 and more recently in 2014. Such accreditation is a formal recognition of the high quality and standards of preparation future teachers receive here at Sage.
In October 2014, the Continuous Improvement Commission of the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) decided to continue the NCATE accreditation of the Esteves School of Education at The Sage Colleges. This accreditation decision indicates that the unit and its programs meet rigorous standards set for the professional education community.
All standards for all programs leading to both initial and advanced preparation were met. The Commission also made a distinct decision to recognize that the Esteves School of Education is moving toward target (exemplary) on Standards 3: Field Experiences and Clinical Practices and Standard 6: Unit Governance and Resources.
"I have learned so much at Sage and all of my professors have been excellent. They are always there for you. I know that I will be so well prepared as a teacher because of my wonderful experiences at the Esteves School of Education."
~Cassandra Palkovic, Childhood/Literacy Education
