Program Design

The Ed.D. program is an intensive 42-credit program including core coursework, an experiential component, and doctoral research into problems of practice. The program is cohort-based; a group of 12 to 15 students will be accepted and proceed through the program together.

The program will be delivered through weekend courses, summer residencies, online components and interaction with state and national experts. The program is book-ended with reflective weekend sessions engaging the individual as leader and building the cohort community. On-campus sessions will be held on the Albany campus.

Internships

Sage's rigorous program requires you to complete an experiential component during the first year of the program, guided by a Sage faculty member and practitioner coach. At least one semester must be completed in a district other than the one in which you are currently employed to broaden perspective and experience.

Research

Candidates are expected to demonstrate individual competence in research as well as work collaboratively as a member of a research team to apply the findings in the field, in order to understand the complex nature of the issues and problems that school districts face, and draw upon the richness and breadth of the university curriculum.
