Pinwheels for Peace
"The Pinwheels for Peace school guidance lesson came about when Menands School was trying to come up with an activity to present to the students during our OLWEUS Anti-Bullying Day. The students would be learning about a variety of topics throughout the day in each of their classes ranging from boundaries to preventing bullying on the playground. The school counselor and I decided to create the Pinwheels for Peace exercise so the students could show ways to promote peace in school as well. Students from kindergarten through 8th grade were asked to create a pinwheel that reflected what peace means to them and how they can use this idea to reflect peace in their school. We then displayed the pinwheels throughout the school so students could be reminded of their peaceful ideas and create a safer school environment."
