Dr. Nicolás Hernández, Jr. Associate Professor of Spanish, earned the B.A. summa cum laude, with majors in French and Spanish from Iona College; the M.A. in Hispanic Literature from Cornell University; the M.A. Theol. from St. Bernard's School of Theology; and the Ph.D. from Cornell University in the field of Romance studies with a major in Hispanic Literature and a minor in Comparative Literature. His special field of interest is 19th and 20th Century Peninsular literature and Spanish American literature since modernismo; in comparative literature his specialty is in romanticism, symbolist poetry, and the novel of realism.
