Dr. Sally Lawrence has served as Vice President for Academic Affairs at The Sage Colleges since January of 2000. She earned her bachelor's degree at Adelphi University, her MA at the University at Albany, and a PhD in Spanish Language and Literature from the University of Madrid in Spain. She has a wealth of experience in higher education and, prior to her career at Sage, taught and/or served in administrative capacities at the University at Albany, Union College, Rensselaer, and Schenectady County Community College.

Lawrence came to Sage in 1985 to serve as the first female dean of Sage Junior College of Albany. In 1995, she was appointed as Dean of both SJCA and Sage Evening College, serving as the Senior Administrator on the Albany Campus. Her knowledge base of Sage's three colleges and both of its campuses has been a distinct advantage in her latest role. She teaches a beginning Spanish course when she can, reads widely in American and South American literature, and has spoken in several of Russell Sage College's Founders classes.
