Spanish, BA

Russell Sage College offers four-year degree programs leading to the Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish and offers the Bachelor of Science in Spanish Childhood Education with optional Annotation in Middle Childhood Education. Students who intend to enter the professional Physical Therapy program may complete the BA in Spanish leading to the MS in Physical Therapy. In addition the program provides opportunities for two minors - a minor in Spanish and a minor in French.

The BA in Spanish provides students with the linguistic fluency and cultural literacy they need to function actively and successfully in an increasingly bilingual country and an increasingly global society. The major is an excellent pre-professional degree for those interested in careers in business, government, international studies, law, or health care administration.

BA in Spanish leading to the Doctorate in Physical Therapy

Students interested in physical therapy as a career may elect Spanish as their undergraduate liberal arts major. Students complete all the requirements for the BA in Spanish, including the general education courses, in the first three years. The fourth year, in Physical Therapy, completes the Bachelor's Degree. The following two years complete the Doctorate in Physical Therapy. In addition to the requirements for the BA in Spanish, the student wishing to enter the professional program in Physical Therapy in the fourth year must meet the requirements for entry into that program. (See Physical Therapy Department) Below is a general course sequence for the BA in Spanish leading to the Doctorate in Physical Therapy. One can introduce flexibility into this recommended sequence by shifting Spanish requirement or general education slots around to allow one to pursue other courses of personal interest or compensate for scheduling conflicts. **Some courses will not be offered every year and should be taken at the first available opportunity.

BA in Spanish awarded at the end of the Fourth Year

Refer to the Physical Therapy section of the Sage Graduate School catalog, for course sequences in the fifth and sixth years to meet the remaining requirements for the Doctorate in Physical Therapy.
