Shealeen Meaney, Ph.D.
Dr. Shealeen Meaney, Associate Professor of English, joins Russell Sage College in the fall of 2007. She received her Ph.D. from the University at Albany, her M.A. from the University of Tennessee, and her B.A. from the State University of New York at Geneseo.
An avid traveler and outdoorswoman, Dr. Meaney teaches courses in American literature, women writers, and travel and environmental literature. She enjoys developing interdisciplinary courses that encourage students to explore the connections between the study of literature, their work in other disciplines, and the cultural environments of their daily lives. Her primary research interests are American women writers, feminist culture study, and travel studies and she is currently at work on a manuscript that explores twentieth-century American womens travel writing.
