The Doctor of Nursing Science (DNS) program at Sage Graduate School prepares expert nurses to be innovative, transformational educators and leaders in both academic and health care settings.

Graduates of the Doctor of Nursing Science program will:

• Assume faculty and leadership positions in academic and health care settings
• Advance education, research and scholarship in academic and health care settings
• Influence policy, legislation and the public about issues in nursing and health care

Students in the Doctor of Nursing Science Program:

• Enroll in six credits a semester during the Fall and Spring
• Attend classes three weekends a semester on our Albany Campus
• Participate in additional coursework online

A Community of Learning

The Doctor of Nursing Science program provides a foundation for scholarly dialogue between academic and practice leaders. These leaders then collaborate in shaping nursing practice, curricula, policy, and patient outcomes.

The program is cohort-based; each fall, a cohort of expert nurses (who already have master's degrees) will be admitted and advance through the required courses as a group. This approach to learning supports the development of a community of learning and practice that will enhance the educational experience of the DNS student.

Sage has been providing nursing education for 85 years and is highly regarded by the health care community. Sage has graduated more than 3,500 nurses at the bachelor's and master's levels, most of which have assumed leadership positions in nursing practice, education and administration. Nearly every chief nursing officer in New York's Capital Region is a Sage graduate.

Because most of our faculty are also involved in clinical practice and leadership, they understand where you are coming from. Accreditation

The Doctor of Nursing Science received approval from the New York State Education Department and the Board of Regents in March 2007.

The Sage Colleges is accredited by the Middle States Association Commission on Higher Education.

The Department of Nursing is a member agency of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing, the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties, the National League for Nursing, and the Council of Deans of Nursing in Senior Colleges and Universities in New York State.

The Baccalaureate and Masters Degree Programs in Nursing at The Sage Colleges are accredited by the Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), One Dupont Circle, NW, Suite 530, Washington, D.C., 20036, (202) 887-6791. All nursing programs are registered with the New York State Education Department.
