Michael Bienkowski

Michael Bienkowski is Associate Professor of Management at The Sage Colleges and has been teaching for 20 years. He holds a B.A. degree from Trinity College, Ct. and an M.B.A. in Finance and Business Policy from the University of Connecticut.
Professor Bienkowski teaches Business Law, Economics, Business Strategy, and Design Management courses, but has over his tenure at the college taught seventeen different courses in all four parts of The Sage Colleges (Sage College of Albany, Russell Sage College, Sage After Work, and Sage Graduate School). In addition to teaching, Professor Bienkowski has served on many college committees including Planning, Curriculum, Faculty Counci,l and for thirteen years has been the Coordinator for Business Programs at the Sage College of Albany.
His area of interest is business strategy and how strategy affects and is affected by politics and economics. He has worked as a Rubin Fellow for The Sand Lake Center for the Arts where he helped the Center develop a management plan and an organizational chart and where he served on their Board. He has also over the last decade presented workshops for local businesses on Deming’s Quality Management, Teamwork, and Group Dynamics. In the last year, Professor Bienkowski has developed a bold new course, Design Management, in which business students engaged in team problem solving involving subjects outside of their normal expertise.
When he is not at work Professor Bienkowski enjoys many hobbies which include reading the works of Shakespeare, 19th and 20th century fiction, and the works of Joyce Carol Oats. He also studies 19th century opera, especially the operas of Verdi and for the past decade has studied digital photography, drawing, and oil painting.
