Gerald Silberstein Creates Audit Tool for Hospital Finance

Gerald Silberstein, lecturer in accounting, authored an article that appeared in the recent edition of the Journal of Health Care Finance and on its website. "Summary of Prospective Quantification of Reimbursement Recovery from Inpatient Acute Care Outliers" detailed the creation of an audit tool designed to select candidate inpatient cases for added hospital reimbursement. The analysis found a possible $230 million impact annually in New York state and a possible annual impact of as much as $3.6 billion if the methodology is applied throughout the entire United States.
