Business Administration A.S
Overview
The first year of the program consists of a core taken by all business students designed to provide a solid foundation of business subjects prior to starting in-depth study of a particular business discipline. The core offers students the opportunity to explore and to consider various options before commencing study of a specific concentration in the second year. Through academic advisement, the student may have an emphasis in Marketing, Management, Global Business or Enterpeneurship.
Features
Entrepeneurship: This emphasis focuses on planning and operating a small business. The basic marketing and management courses along with complementary studies in the liberal arts prepares you to create and run your own business.
Global Business: This emphasis focuses on conducting business in the global marketplace.
Management: This emphasis focuses on managing people, communications, and information.
Marketing: This emphasis focuses on sales, advertising, and retail management.
This program allows you to try out your career in advance through an internship or to take the courses you really need for career preparation or transfer. Small classes with dedicated teachers reflect the specific nature of this program.

- Specific discipline-related electives are suggested so that more of your courses will relate to your major/emphasis.
- You can choose alternative electives to pursue your own special interests or to investigate alternative career choices.
- Undecided? As a Marketing and Management major you take a basic core of courses your first year, so if you change your mind about your major, you can change your major without losing your mind!
- Through advisement, you can pursue an A.A.S. or A.S. degree.
Students have gained business experience at the following internship sites: The Ad Vantage, Albany County Convention and Visitors Bureau, Albany Financial Planners, American Red Cross, NYNEX Mobil Communications, CDPHP, Albany River Rats, Disney World and many more.
Future
According to the Spring 2000 issue of Occupational Outlook Quarterely, between 1998-2008, Advertising, Marketing, and Public Relations Managers are expected to increase 23% because of domestic and global competition. College graduates with experience, creativity, and strong communication and new media skills should have the best opportunities.
