Scholarships

For four years, beginning in the 2008-2009 academic year, The Sage Colleges will award six scholarships up to $6500 each at RSC and four scholarships up to $4500 each at SCA to students enrolled in S-STEM programs. These amounts represent approximately 25% of the tuition at each school. In addition to scholarships, students receive up to $750 for a laptop computer and participate in field trips/site visits to research facilities and businesses throughout the Capital Region.

Goals and Objectives

The overall goal for students of this program is to obtain a degree in one of the STEM majors.

The objectives of the program are to:

  • Increase the number of students, especially women and minorities, enrolled in degree programs in biology, chemistry/biochemistry, computer science, mathematics and mathematics/engineering
  • Enhance support activities for scholarship recipients including field trips and tutoring
  • Prepare students for entry into the workforce or graduate study

Eligibility

  • Student must be a US citizen, national, refugee alien, or permanent resident alien at the time of application
  • Student must be admitted to, or enrolled in one of the relevant major programs
  • Student must complete the Sage application form and supply the required supporting materials
  • Initial academic eligibility requirement are a college GPA ≥ 3.0 or high school average ≥ B
  • Cost of Attendance (COA) must exceed Expected Family Contribution (EFC) as determined by Financial Aid
