Accelerated 4+1 BS leading to Dietetic Internship

Program Requirements

Phase I
Sage Graduate School Dietetic Internship admission will be granted to Russell Sage College undergraduate nutrition majors who have:

  1. Completed the top half of the Phase I Worksheet and discussed this option with their advisor;
  2. completed all 100 and 200 level chemistry and biology requirements (CHM and BIO);
  3. completed or enrolled in at least the following nutrition core courses:SCI 120, NTR 211, NTR 311; plus HMN 201
  4. a minimum of 3.0 GPA overall;
  5. a minimum GPA of 3.3 in the nutrition(NTR) core courses;
  6. demonstrated leadership at Russell Sage College, e.g., participate in club activities and the Sage OWL Program;
  7. work experience and/or extracurricular experiences which indicate a familiarity with the dietetic profession and a well-rounded background.

Phase II
The Application:

  1. Obtain an application for The Sage Colleges BS/DI Program from the Nutrition Science Department Office during the Spring Semester of Junior Year.
  2. Attend an information session on the BS/DI as noted on the application form.
  3. Submit application, including the Phase I-Freshman/Sophomore Worksheet and the ADA Declaration of Intent Form. Application deadline is October 15th. Students will be notified of their acceptance by November 15th.

Phase III
Students admitted to the BS/DI must:

  1. maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0;
  2. maintain a minimum GPA of 3.3 in Nutrition (NTR) coursework;
  3. complete all DPD requirements prior to beginning the DI; and
  4. participate in the ADA Computer Match process, and submit by Feb. 15, a transcript and confirmation letter of intent to complete the SGS dietetic internship.
