The Sage OT Program is now an AOTA Approved Provider of continuing education. Attending a Sage-sponsored CE workshop will provide therapists with the professional development units (PDUs) needed to maintain NBCOT certification and NYS licensure.

Art Play Imagination: Connecting the dots across practice settings"

Goal:

To explore and discover connections between the creative process and qualities of relaxation, motivation, exploration and persistence that are relevant to the helping professions.

Learning Objectives:

1. To identify basic principles of an art-based approach that interface with rehab concepts.

  • a. How is the creative shaping process a way express a response to ones world?
  • b. How can play create a relaxed and effective learning environment.(Flow)
  • c. How does the low skill / high sensitivity methods of
  • expressive arts open the enabling resources and opportunities of the creative imagination to everyone regardless of talent and artistic training.
  • d. How does using the arts in combination deepen an art-based experience and lead to meaning.
  • e. What is the evidence that the creative/aesthetic response is an inherent human inclination?

2. To understand the differences and similarities among the various art modalities.

3. To understand the adaptable nature of art-based activities for all ages and populations using the psychodramatic social atom as an example.

4. To experience a simple non-verbal art making activity that invites lessening of self-consciousness and increase of confidence by its emphasis on engagement and enjoyment.
