American Occupational Therapy Foundation (AOTF) Scholarships

The American Occupational Therapy Foundation (AOTF) offers scholarships to students pursuing entry-level occupational therapy degrees at the master's and doctoral levels. Completed applications must be sent electronically or postmarked on or before mid-January. Winners are notified by May 1. For more information contact the Foundation.

American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) Scholarships

The E. K. Wise Loan Program is administered by the AOTA Membership Department. It is restricted to students entering an entry-level master's or post-professional master's curriculum in occupational therapy. The program offers a one time loan of up to $5,000 for female students who are citizens or permanent residents of the United States. The loan must be repaid within three years of graduation or earlier should the recipient withdraw from the approved course of study before graduating. Call 800-729-2682, x2760 for more information.

NYSOTA Capital District Chapter Scholarship The Capital District Chapter of the New York State Occupational Therapy Association offers a scholarship each year to a student who is a New York State resident, has completed at least one semester of occupational therapy education, and is a member of the state association. FEDERAL AND STATE SCHOLARSHIPS

  • The New York State Education Department offers the Regents Professional Opportunity Scholarship Program to students who are members of minority groups historically underrepresented in the licensed profession.
  • The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services offers the Indian Health Scholarship program, the purpose of which is "…to obtain health professionals to meet the staffing need of the Indian Health Service in health manpower shortage areas." This program provides financial assistance for Native Americans in selected health care professions. Occupational therapy is one of the "Priority Careers" supported by this program. A service obligation is required.
  • The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) offers Health Professional Scholarships in selected health care areas, including occupational therapy. The purpose of this program is to assist in providing an adequate supply of health care professionals for the Department of Veterans Affairs and the nation. A two-year service obligation in a VA medical center is required.
