Program Philosophy
The mission of the Russell Sage College nutrition science program is to provide women with an opportunity to study the foundation knowledge of food science, nutrition, and food service management within a small, private liberal arts environment.
Program Goals
The goal of the nutrition science program at Russell Sage College is to present educational opportunities that will prepare students with knowledge of nutrition, food science and food service management. Students will be provided with learning opportunities to develop the basic knowledge and skills necessary to support quality nutrition service for individuals, groups and communities.
The Associate Degree Transfer
Transfer agreements have been established between the Russell Sage College program, Adirondack Community College, Hudson Valley Community College and Schenectady County Community College. These have been arranged so that students will be able to complete a B.S. in nutrition within four semesters.
Becoming a Registered Dietitian
The R.D. credential is attained upon successful completion of an
examination administered by a branch of the American Dietetic Association.
Only those students who have completed an ADA-accredited internships

for the B.S. graduate, the additional R.D. credential leads to more
