Department of Nutrition Science
Dietetic Internship
Program Goals |
Admission Requirments |
Registered Dietitians in the Capital Region of New York State and faculty at Sage Graduate School have combined their efforts to provide a supervised practice program for students who have successfully completed at least a baccalaureate degree and minimum academic requirements established by The American Dietetic Association - generally a B.S. degree in either dietetics or food and nutrition (didactic program in dietetics-DPD). This program is currently granted accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Dietetic Education (CADE) of the American Dietetic Association (ADA). Successful graduates of the program are eligible to apply for active membership in The American Dietetic Association and to take the registration examination to earn "R.D." status.
The Sage Graduate School Dietetic Internship integrates five graduate courses with over 1,000 hours of supervised practice experience in a variety of settings within a 50-mile radius of Albany and Troy, New York. The five graduate courses constitute a dietetic internship track. Students have the option of applying the graduate courses to a master's degree in either applied nutrition, health education, health services administration or public administration. The option of completing a master's degree would require the student to coordinate the remainder of his/her program with a specific graduate department advisor. Completion of the degree may be done either full-time or part-time.
