Students + Alumni
Awards and Honors
The following awards are presented to students who have achieved outstanding academic records:
The Linda and Peter Hoffman Award for the graduating sociology major with the highest grade point average.
The Meservey Award for outstanding achievement in criminal justice, to a graduating senior.
The Millhouse Award, presented by Chester F. Millhouse to a sociology major.
The Douglas E. Stanley Award for Achievement and perseverance by a junior criminal justice major.
In addition, each year select students are initiated into Alpha Kappa Delta, the International Sociological Honor Society. The name, Alpha Kappa Delta "represents the first letters of three Greek words: namely, anthropon (mankind), katamanthaneion (to investigate thoroughly or to conduct research), and diakonesien (for the purpose of service). The name, therefore, implies social research for the purpose of service." Brief History of Alpha Kappa Delta, T. Earl Sullenger, AKD Handbook
