Where can I buy art supplies in the area?
As art students, you want to become savy shoppers for the best buys in art supplies. There are several good places to purchase art supplies in the Capital Region. Always check first to find out if any discounts are available for SCA students. Some places may ask for a student I.D. card. Other stores already have discounted their supplies. Many students watch the local newspapers for discount coupons or for special sales. Always keep your reciepts in case you need to return an item that was not required for class or if it is defective. Check all products carefully before purchasing. Compare prices.

* Special Note for Painters: Make sure the paint tubes are suble and not dried up and that canvas stretchers are not warped or have broken ends. Select canvas stretchers that are all the same brand as their are slight differences in construction. Pick up 8 canvas keys (small triangular pieces of wood) for each canvas size. If available, also purchase a crossbrace. When purchasing canvas, if unprimed canvas is specified, select unprimed cotton duck, medium weight. When you purchase it, roll it rather than fold it to avoid wrinkles.
