Painting

PaintingThe painting program is designed to encourage the exploration of a variety of approaches to imagery and media. This is accomplished through a solid foundation in traditional and experimental tools and concepts that are incorporated in the process of creating paintings.

Students become proficient in a working with a variety of media while developing their own personal artistic language. The program culminates in a thesis exhibit through which the advanced student develops a self-critical framework.

The program develops both conceptual and technical skills, and features a faculty who are themselves practicing artists. The classes are small and the faculty which consists of dedicated artist-teachers, give the students individual attention and guidance throughout the creative process. Field trips to galleries and museums supplement the classroom studio experience as do lectures, demonstrations, and exhibits by visiting artists.
