Alumnae Recommendation and Referral Information
Alumnae/i have the experience of Sage and can recognize the qualities in students that are a good match for Sage colleges. Over the last five years, students applying with an alumnae/i referral have been accepted at a rate of over 90% and an enrolled at a 50% rate. In 2007-08 168 alumnae/i referrals resulted in 95 students enrolled. These numbers show that your thinking, or intuition, is sound.
Alumnae/i recommendations are statements written on behalf of prospective students who are known, to some extent, by an alumna/us -- friends, neighbors and colleagues, family members, children of the aforementioned and. Recommendations are considered part of the students application and add value in the review process. They serve as a friend introducing the student to admissions officers, providing what information is known about the students character, academic ability, interests and experiences.
While not every casual contact will merit a recommendation, offering a referral can be a discussion opener to encourage students to develop an interest in Sage. Referrals provide basic information on prospective students and put students on the Sage admission mailing list.
Alumnae/i recommendations and referrals can be made to either Russell Sage College or Sage College of Albany regardless of which college you attended and for transfer students as well as first-time applicants. If you arent too familiar with the non-attended college, check out the Resources pages at this site. The process of making a recommendation or referral is very straight forward. You provide some basic information on the prospective student by completing the on-line form or copying and sending in a printable form. You are also always welcome to call or e-mail the AAP office at 518-244-4799 or vanrym@sage.edu.
