Q: How does a student arrange an overnight visit?
A: Overnight visit should be scheduled through the Office of Admission as we have designated specific hosts for the program. A formal overnight is scheduled in the spring. All students who have applied to the College receive invitations in the mail. All visit requests can be made by calling 1-888-VERY SAGE (1-888-837-9724) and speaking with our visit coordinator.
Q: What is the minimum GPA requirement for non-accelerated or linked programs at SCA?
A: An 80% average and 950 on the math and verbal portions of the SAT.
Q. What is the average GPA and middle 50% sat score for students interested in non-accelerated and non-linked programs?
A. B to B+ average, 950-1040 (982 is the average without heop students)6
Q: When will a student be notified of the admission decision?
A: Early Action applications must be completed by December 1. Decisions will be mailed December 15. Regular admission applicants whose credentials are complete will be notified of their status on a rolling basis beginning early January, as they are received and reviewed. All accepted students receive congratulatory telephone calls from counselors to confirm the acceptance and address any questions.
Q: What if my family circumstances change halfway through my college years?
A: Students may apply for financial aid at any time during their four years at Sage. If circumstances impacting your financial situation occur during the year, contact Office of Financial Aid.
Q: What recreational and fitness opportunities does the College offer?
A: Sage College of Albany is committed to continually improving and adapting its Recreation and Fitness department to be on the cutting edge of collegiate recreation and fitness. The on-campus fitness center, THE FIT STOP, is the backbone of SCAs student fitness programs. SCA also has a gymnasium where students can make good use of down time by shooting hoops or taking part in a pick-up game with friends.
Sage offers complete intramural program for students, faculty, administrators, and staff to compete against one another or against teams from other area colleges within the University Heights Association. The games provide friendly competition and a great way to meet others in the community.
Q: What about social life at the College?
A: The Office of Campus Life Sage encourages students to participate in Sages many clubs, organizations, and campus events offers many opportunities for students to expand their education beyond the classroom. We believe active involvement in student activities students -- working with others in a group setting, improving communication skills, learning to take risks, and developing leadership skills is preparation for future careers
Sage College of Albany shares the college town of Albany, NY with thirteen higher education institutions (and 60,000 students) within a fifty mile radius. The Capital District offers lots of social and cultural events such as concerts by Dave Matthews Band, Bruce Springsteen, exhibits and several minor league sports teams.
Q: What is housing like? Is housing guaranteed for four years?
A: The residence hall on campus is primarily for housing first students. After their first year, students are encouraged to live next door in University Heights College Suites, which offers apartment-style living with fully furnished 2- and 4-bedroom units.
Q: Can students take courses at other colleges?
A: Yes. Sage belongs to the Hudson-Mohawk Consortium, an association of 14 colleges in the Capital District. Should a student be interested in a course Sage does not offer, it is possible for him/her to take that course at one of the other Consortium schools. The student pays Sage tuition and receives credit for the course just as if she had taken it on the Sage campus.
Q: Does Sage offer study abroad programs?
A: Sage sponsors several international study opportunities and is affiliated with other colleges for additional programs. Each year the College also offers a variety of foreign travel opportunities. The college has recently offered trips to London and Italy.
Q: Is there financial aid available?
A: Yes. Over 85% of Sage students receive one or more forms of assistance.
