W.B. Belcher will read from and discuss his novel, "Lay Down Your Weary Tune," a book that has been called “beautifully thrownback” and “openhanded” by Matthew Quick, author of "The Silver Linings Playbook." A book signing will follow.

This book is also the book club selection for Reunion 2016

PAY ATTENTION! Growing Up with a Diagnosis of ADHD and Other Neuropsychiatric Disorders with Jessica Lennington, Ph.D., RSC' 01

Many Children are diagnosed with neuropsychiatric disorders including attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, Tourette syndrome, anxiety and mood disorders. Jessica Lennington, a postdoctoral fellow studying the neurobiology of childhood-onset neuropsychiatric disorders at Yale Child Study Center and a Marriage and Family Therapy master's degree candidate, will discuss questions that arise for families and educators of these children: What defines typical development? Does our culture have unrealistic expectations for kids when it comes to attention and behavior? Should excessive use of attention-enhancing medications be considered cheating? How can we safeguard our children's neurophysiological profiles?

HEART CHASE CHALLENGE FOR ALUMNAE AND STUDENTS

Get your game on! HeartChase is a good-cause community adventure game. It’s a fun and frenzied pursuit of hidden rewards and healthy lives. And best of all, it’s a chance to help our community and the AHA chase away heart disease for good. Teams of 2-5 people will compete against other teams in a chase through the community. Each team will face multiple checkpoint challenges and locate Power Ups all while tracking progress in the HeartChase Mobile Game App. The team with the most points at the end of the clock wins!
