"Peter Pan: the Musical" Education Programs

Peter PanStudy Guide

Aligned with NYS Education Department Learning Standards, the Study Guide [PDF] supports teachers in applying concepts from the theatrical production into classroom curriculum. The guide features a synopsis, background information on the play and designs and concepts from the director, costumes, sets and lights, and serves to prepare and orient students to the production. Classroom activities and lessons further extend the experience by offering opportunities for interdisciplinary connections to student learning in the classroom. An invaluable resource for teachers.

In-Class Preps, available November 14-18, Nov. 28-Dec. 2

In-Class Preps are an interactive, in-school presentation that takes your students through the creative process of mounting a theatrical production and prepares them for their trip to the theatre. While a slide show documents the production from design to build to rehearsal, students will also participate in a hands-on, interactive exercise that places them in a creative and collaborative role with fellow classmates. Prepare your students for a more meaningful theatre experience.

Teacher In-Service, Tuesday, November 29, 4-6 pm

Designed especially for educators, these two-hour “making-of” workshops provide an opportunity for teacher development hours* and offer a “behind-the-scenes” look at the production, including concepts and insights from the director, designers, technicians, and performers. In-services take place at the Schacht Fine Arts Center on the Russell Sage College campus from 4 - 6 pm and include an opportunity for a glimpse of a final dress rehearsal.

*Teacher Development Credit must be approved by teacher’s school district.

Residencies, available December 6 - 16 following 10 am performances

An integral part of the mission of the Theatre Institute at Sage, our post-performance residency program consists of interdisciplinary classes taught by Institute Artists and Educators following 10 am performances. Post-performance residencies are interactive classes that integrate the performance into classroom curriculum. Residencies are scheduled at the request of teachers and customized to fit the group’s time frame.
