How We Work
Allies programming and research seek to transcend institutional and social boundaries wherever possible. In order to provide models that illustrate the Allies philosophy, all programming and research:
- Engage issues of social responsibility at the level of dominance or privilege.
- Are designed to open up dialogue and to model ally-building, conflict mediation, and community relations across categories of difference.
- Seek to teach and pattern social action skills.
- Includes and is directed to students, faculty, administrators, staff and community.
- Embrace principles of socially responsible actions and the consequences of their absence.
The Allies Center also serves as a clearinghouse in the following ways:
- Providing bibliographic resources;
- Collecting research data for community-wide access;
- Offering consulting on related issues;
- Serving as a referral center;
- Networking with campus and community;
- Providing resources and consultation for student retention and recruitment efforts.
- Providing curricular and co-curricular support for the program on issues of social responsibility.
