The Academy for Character Education at The Sage Colleges is pleased to announce that well known WRGB newscaster Liz Bishop will be the emcee at its 9th Annual “Champions of Character” Awards Banquet on April 3, 2012. Liz is a familiar face in the Capital Region, having been a newscaster on WRGB for over two decades. She has had many firsts and awards during her distinguished career. In the mid-1970 she was the first woman reporter allowed into the NY Yankees locker room. Among the many ways her excellence has been recognized are an Emmy award, AP Broadcast Awards for sports reporting, best interview, environmental reporting, and documentary, three NYS Broadcasters' Association awards and inclusion in the local 100 Women of Excellence. It is particularly significant that for the past several months she has been in the forefront of the WGRB PSA's about the” Be an Ally” campaign to help prevent Bullying. Bullying Prevention is a major focus of The Academy. The Academy is thrilled that Liz Bishop will enhance its 9th Annual Awards Banquet.
For those needing hotel accommodations for this event The Academy has arranged a special $107 nightly rate at Best Western Franklin Square Inn (directly across the street from the Franklin Plaza). This rate includes parking and a full hot breakfast and is also honored two days before and after April 6. Reservations may be made by calling 1-866-708-2233. Be sure to mention that you want the Sage Character Education rate.
To place an ad in the event program (starting at $125 for 1/4page), become a member of the Honorary Committee ($175, includes one reservation) or be listed as a Supporter in the event program ($25) please contact The Academy at 518-244-2336/ walkoj@sage.edu.
