The conference promises to be an exciting and very informative event. It will also feature workshops led by award winning New York State Schools of Character presenting their practical advice on infusing character into your classroom and other useful, hands on workshops focusing on topics including dropouts, school climate, academic performance and performance/ character issues. Once again Capital Region BOCES is partnering with The Academy in developing this cutting edge conference..

The keynote speaker, Lee Hirsch, will provide attendees with the unique opportunity of hearing and interacting with the Director of the acclaimed award winning documentary BULLY. He will be introduced by Kaitlin Monte, 2011 Miss New York State who will also be presenting a workshop about her Bullying Prevention foundation. There will also be over twenty Workshop Sessions to choose from, an elementary student character education chorus and informational exhibit and educational materials tables.

The conference is held each fall at The Sage College of Albany and attended by educators and community organization leaders from all regions of New York State and beyond.  It has been a source of inspiration and renewal which provided specific lessons and materials that could be used immediately by educators, community activists, parents and students.

Since 2000, The Academy for Character Education at The Sage Colleges (Troy and Albany, NY) has organized the annual Northeastern United States Conference on Character Education. This interactive and informative program features nationally acclaimed speakers and workshops led by award winning New York State Schools of Character presenting advice and successful plans for infusing character into their classrooms and community. Hands on workshops, focusing on topics including bullying prevention, school climate, academic performance and performance/character issues, are central to this event. Student teams also play a role in the presentations.
