"Got Grub"

Russell Sage College's WORLD-420-03 class has decided it is time to fight the stereotype associated with homelessness. Homelessness does not discriminate! Every race, religion and gender, EVERYONE can be effected. Our mission is to bring about awareness of homelessness in the Troy area (and beyond) and to start creating change. What kind of change would we like to see? We want to see the day where housing is no longer a privilege but a right. All too often, people take for granted that we have a roof over our heads, a warm bed to sleep in, and a place to call home. Every human being, regardless of economic status, color of skin pigment, drugs or alcohol addictions, should have a place to call home.

This Spring we have continued our mission by connecting Got Shelter with Got Grub. What is the connection? Homelessness and hunger are symptoms of inequality and poverty. Don't worry, we didnt connect them either... until we visited Joseph's House in Troy, NY.If we only treat the symptoms of homelessness and hunger we will never cure the problem of injustice! Our mission is to bring about awareness of the connection between homelessness and hunger to create change in the Troy area and beyond. We want to see the day where food supports community, justice and sustainability.
