Amy Halloran interviewed Christine Nealon, Professor of World 420-03, one of the World 420-03 students, Katrina Sierson, and Mary Jane Smith about the perceptions of homelessness in Troy. Professor Nealon and Katrina expressed our efforts and genuine passion for raising awareness for homelessness.

Efforts to reach politicians
We invited Marc McGrath, a Troy City Councilman, to join our class on November 10th. We researched his policies, only to find that he had previously supported a legislation that would have benefited the homeless population. Our objective was to understand current events in Troy regarding the allocation of money for the homeless population. We wanted to change Councilmen McGrath's opinion about the need for shelters, and change his opinion on the face of homelessness. Each individual politician brings their own experience and knowledge to their decision making, and we felt it would be beneficial to change the opinion of even one politician.
