Sage Students Raise Funds for Local Child

A local child is smiling a much brighter today and able to navigate simple tasks with more ease than ever before thanks for a group of local Sage college students.

The Physical Therapy Club is a group of undergraduate and graduate students on an academic track to complete the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program at Sage Graduate Schools.  In March, students arranged a Pot Roast Dinner at Duncan's Dairy Bar on Hoosick Road in Troy to raise money for an iPad to be used as a communication device for a local child with physical limitations.

Due to the generous support received from Duncan's, PT Club members and the community, students were able to raise over $1,700 to purchase everything the child needs to purchase an iPad and all of the necessary supporting adaptive equipment. This equipment will not only enhance his educational environment, but also his peer interactions and socialization as well.

Consistent with the mission of the Sage Graduate School and the American Physical Therapy Association Vision 2020 statement, The Sage Colleges Doctor of Physical Therapy Program prepares physical therapists who are exemplary, autonomous practitioners. The depth and breadth of our professional curriculum is enriched by the intellectual community found at our comprehensive university that is dedicated to liberal, professional, and specialized programs of study. Graduates embrace their role in promoting the profession through evidence-based practice that is respectful and sensitive to individual differences, commitment to lifelong learning that sustains clinical excellence, and service to community and society.
