WHY: The Girl Scout Research Institute has found that girls today are exposed to more than 4,000 hours of mass media (including television, magazines, newspapers, radio, the Internet and now social media) every year. Negative images in the media promote unrealistic expectations of the ideal thin and have contributed to the national and local crisis of childhood obesity and eating disorders.

The Girl Scouts of Northeastern New York are looking to energize girls and empower them to assume leadership roles as advocates for healthy lifestyles.
