From draft dodging to the Dayton Accords, from Monica Lewinsky to a balanced budget, the presidency of William Jefferson Clinton veered between sordid scandal and grand achievement.

In Clinton, the latest installment in the critically acclaimed and successful series of presidential biographies, American Experience explores the fascinating story of an American president who rose from a broken childhood in Arkansas to become one of the most successful politicians in modern American history and one of the most complex and conflicted characters to ever stride across the public stage.

WMHT Presents the Capital Region Preview of

FREEDOM RIDERS

A Powerful Story of Six Months in 1961 That Changed America Forever

A powerful and harrowing story featuring testimony from the Riders themselves, state and federal government officials, and journalists who witnessed the Rides firsthand.

WMHT in partnership with The Sage Colleges proudly present the Capital Region preview of the new PBS American Experience documentary, Freedom Riders

Fifty years ago, more than 400 courageous Americans risked their lives, endured savage beatings and imprisonment, for simply traveling together on buses and trains through the Deep South.  Deliberately violating Jim Crow laws, the Freedom Riders' belief in non-violent activism, was sorely tested as they encountered mob violence and bitter racism along the way.

Following the preview screening, Sage hosted a community conversation featuring a panel of veterans of the Southern Civil Rights Movement along with music from the era by a group of gospel singers and the Sagettes.
