Sage College of Albany seeks applications for an energetic and creative, admission professional who will be the Assistant/Associate Director of Admission.

The Assistant/Associate Director of Admission reports to the Director of Admission. Responsibilities of this full-time administrative position include assisting the Director in planning and implementing marketing, recruitment, and admission strategies that will result in the enrollment of a targeted number of talented and diverse students at the undergraduate level. The position requires an individual who can manage multiple projects while exhibiting professionalism, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to teamwork across the campus. The new Associate Director will have an ability to develop creative solutions, use technology and research in recruitment. A “can do” attitude driven by results and positive demeanor are essential.

Qualifications: Baccalaureate degree with appropriate experience, interpersonal skills, especially communication of all types required. The successful candidate must be self-directed and team oriented and capable and willing to work toward individual and common institutional goals.

Job Description:

Reports to: Director of Admission, Sage College of Albany

Position Summary and Qualifications:
Reporting to the Director of Admission, the Assistant/Associate Director will assist the Director in coordinating and implementation of the marketing, recruitment and admission strategies. The individual in this position will work within a dynamic, collaborative enrollment management environment and be an integral part of the enrollment team. The primary focus of this position will be to consistently achieve institutional enrollment goals through the implementation of a comprehensive recruiting effort that is data driven, focused on meeting student needs and utilizing proven and state-of-the-art enrollment techniques. The successful candidate will be expected to continue his/her professional education to remain at the top of the profession.

The individual must be self-directed and team oriented and capable and willing to work toward individual and common institutional goals. Interpersonal skills, especially communication of all types, are necessary. A baccalaureate degree and appropriate experience are acceptable qualifications for this position.

Responsibilities:

Operational Management/Supervisory

  • Meet with the Director of Admission, Sage College of Albany on a regular basis.
  • Participate in weekly staff meetings with the admission staff.
  • Work with the admission staff to plan and execute on- and off-campus events.
  • Work with Director of Admission, SCA to implement a yearly operational recruiting plan that will meet or exceed yearly enrollment goals by utilizing appropriate communication, travel and event strategies.
  • Provide the Director of Admission, SCA with regular descriptive and evaluative reports on recruitment and admission.
  • Perform the appropriate duties in the absence of the Director of Admission
  • Assist Director of Admission in determining individual goals for each territory; keep in communication of these goals with the territory managers.
  • Help monitor and evaluate progress of admission counselors enrollment goals to keep Director of Admission informed.
  • Help begin to coordinate an alumni admission program.

Recruitment

  • Travel related areas while utilizing research and recruitment activities and contemporary prospect management techniques.
  • Travel to be primarily in New York State.
  • Time commitment: days, evenings, select Saturday mornings, weekends (as necessary).
  • Duties:

    • College day/night visits
    • High School visits
    • Community College visits
    • Follow-up on student contacts
    • Special presentations and workshops

Application Evaluation and Interviewing

  • Participate in the application folder reading process.
  • Make recommendations on admission decisions for all applications for admission.
  • Perform appropriate post-decision follow-up to maximize yield.
  • Meet with prospective students/parents/spouses as necessary and arrange for all pertinent components of the visit including faculty appointments, campus tours, credit evaluations, and additional reasonable requests.
  • Conduct follow-up activities with each student after the campus visit.

Community Relations and Liaisons

  • As appropriate and pertinent to the fulfillment of other specific recruiting objectives, cultivate collaborative relations with high schools, community colleges and other sources of potential students.
  • Citizenship within community groups and support of their efforts is expected.
  • Establish a positive interaction with academic departments for informational purposes and encourage faculty participation in admission efforts.
  • Work with members of the faculty and the Director of Admission to assist in the implementation of enrollment plans for each academic program.
  • Interact with appropriate administrative areas for the planned coordination of recruitment efforts including Records and Registration, Student Accounts, and Financial Aid Services.

Technical Knowledge and Proficiency Skills

  • High level of computer literacy and proficiency in data base management.
  • Ability to develop and analyze statistical reports.
  • Possess high levels of interpersonal skills including superior communication and team skills.
  • Ability to implement the recruitment plan to best serve the needs of each student population and the institution.
  • Understand and respond appropriately to the needs of each distinct student population.

Assist with Special Projects

  • Assist the Director of Admission with research, planning and other duties as assigned.
  • Assist with on-campus and off-campus programs including open houses, off-campus interviews, career fair events and other activities as assigned.
