The Sage Colleges seek a Registrar. Responsibilities of this full-time, administrative position include providing leadership, management, and direction for the student records and registration component within The Sage Colleges one-stop Student Services operation. The Registrar is responsible for all Registrar office functions that involve interaction with students, parents and the Sage community, including course registration, academic records management, retention efforts and required institutional enrollment reporting. The Registrar is the authoritative source for all institutional data concerning enrolled students. Additionally, the Registrar serves as a critical member of the management team that provides overall leadership for the Office of Student Services.

Qualifications: A Bachelors degree with substantial experience as an Assistant or Associate Registrar is the minimum requirement, with Masters degree preferred. The successful candidate will have a high level of competence in database management, experience with Datatel Colleague systems preferred. The candidate will have a clear understanding of the relationship between enrollment statistics and higher education management with an accountable approach to reporting. Strong communication skills, including one on one, within groups, and in written form are a must. A student-centered approach to academic processes is critical for success, coupled with being an effective leader to achieve an exemplary standard of service for all members of the academic community.

Reports to: Associate Vice President for Student Services


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: The Registrar provides leadership, management, and direction for the student records and registration component of The Sage Colleges Office of Student Services. The Registrar is responsible for all Registrar office functions that involve interaction with students, parents and the Sage community, including course registration, academic records management and retention efforts. The Registrar is the authoritative source for all institutional data concerning enrolled students. Additionally, the Registrar serves as a critical member of the management team that provides overall leadership for the Office of Student Services.

The Registrar is specifically responsible for the following:

Maintenance of the official academic records of students within The Sage Colleges inclusive of insuring compliance with all issues of student privacy as mandated by FERPA.
Maintenance and continued improvement of the registration systems.
Maintenance of enrollment verification and grading processes.
Support for academic advising in the form of current and accurate degree audits for individual students.
Maintenance of an enrollment reporting system that meets external requirements (e.g., IPEDS surveys) and internal management needs (e.g., retention forecasts) in an accurate and timely fashion, in collaboration with the Office of Institutional Research.
Maintenance of enrollment data integrity and consistency as a member of the Administrative Systems Advisory Committee/Data Integrity Group.
Maintenance, in collaboration with Admission offices, of a proactive, recruitment-oriented system of evaluation for transfer credit of academic work earned at other institutions.
Certification of candidates for commencement and providing their diplomas.
Insuring currency and accuracy of program and course requirements contained in the Colleague system
Supervision of personnel related to Albany and Troy Registrar areas within Student Services offices.
With academic Deans and the Vice-President for Academic Affairs, creation of an annual schedule of classes that utilizes fully the instructional hours available and functions efficiently for students from all Colleges.
Assignment of classroom spaces on each campus to insure optimum class sizes and achieve maximum use of classroom facilities available.
Development and maintenance of online and face-to-face services that positively impact student persistence.
Assistance with general supervision of the Office of Student Services on both campuses
Service, ex officio, on faculty committees as described in the Sage Employee Handbook, on retention teams, and other institutional committees as appropriate and necessary.
Performance of other duties as assigned by the Associate Vice President for Student Services


REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS: Masters degree required, or bachelors degree with substantial experience as an Associate Registrar in a similarly complex institution. High level of competence in database management, experience with Datatel Colleague software preferred. Understanding of relationship between enrollment statistics and higher education management and accountable approach to reporting. Strong communication skills, including one on one, within groups, and in written form; facility with Microsoft Office software suite. Student-centered approach to academic processes. Effective leader of others to achieve an exemplary standard of service for all members of the academic community.
