The Sage Colleges Department of English and Modern Languages seeks a Program Coordinator for the Professional Writing Program , Sage After Work beginning Fall 2008. This part-time, twelve month position reports to the Chair of the English Department.
The Program Coordinator, Professional Writing Program in Sage After Work at the Sage Colleges is responsible for managing and providing leadership for the B.S. and Certificate degree programs in Professional Writing. This is a part-time 20-hour per week position that also requires the Program Coordinator to develop and teach two core courses in both the fall and spring semesters. This individual will report directly to the Chair of the Department of English and Modern Languages and will also have responsibility for communicating with and working closely with the Chair of the Department of Communications and Information Design, and the Associate Dean of Continuing Studies for the Sage After Work Program. Candidates for this position should have a Ph.D. in English, Communications or an appropriate discipline, and extensive experience in teaching writing or professional writing. Please note: this is not a Creative Writing position.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides leadership for the B.S. and Certificate Programs in Professional Writing
Develops and teaches two core courses in both the fall and spring semester
Serves as the liaison between the participating departments that run the B.S. and Certificate Programs in Professional Writing, and the office of the Associate Dean of Continuing Studies
Attends the bi-weekly Program Coordinator meetings as an active participant, working cooperatively with the other Program Coordinators in the Sage After Work Program
Works with the Associate Dean of Continuing Studies in the Sage After Work Program to manage and assess the Professional Writing Program
Works closely with the two Department Chairs to hire adjunct faculty to teach in the program; as such the Program Coordinator should possess good networking skills
Communicates and works closely with full-time faculty and adjuncts teaching in the program
