Changes to the Midterm Examination

Because of the time constraints for the midterm (only 50 minutes), the format has been changed.

The written, in-class exam will consist of two parts.

Part one will address Beatrix Potter. You will be given a number of questions, and you will answer only one. This will not be a complete essay answer but merely a short answer, perhaps two or three paragraphs.

Part two will address Jane Gardam. You will again be given a number of questions, and you will answer only one. This will be a complete and thoughtful essay answer.

Approximately two weeks prior to the in-class midterm exam, you will receive a sheet with several questions on Joseph Conrad. You will choose only one and answer it in a complete and thoughtful essay prepared outside of class and prior to the date of the midterm exam. The completed Conrad essay will be collected on Wednesday, October 22 at the in-class portion of the midterm.

The exam is still scheduled for Wednesday, October 22. We will have an in-class review on October 20.

The midterm grade will be a composite of the three answers. Any questions, don't hesitate to ask in-person or through e-mail (das93006@uconnvm.uconn.edu).
