"Close Encounters of the Third Kind" (1977) dir. Steven Spielberg

The now-classic science fiction film about extra-terrestrial connections to the earth and its inhabitants. Planes reported missing in 1945 suddenly appear in the Mojave Desert. A commercial flight is buzzed by a "bright" object that the pilot "wouldn't know how to describe." Roy Neary (Richard Dreyfuss), while working one night, has a Close Encounter. The US Government determines where the visitors plan to land and creates an elaborate cover-up to keep people away. However, a group of people, including Neary, share a vision which draws them to the place and a meeting with new, and old, friends. A good portion of this film was shot around and on Devils Tower. For many people, this film was their first glimpse of Devils Tower. Don't miss it! (Shown on DVD). Go to Devils Tower that day (see the Adventure Center) and see the film that night. Rated PG. 130 min.

“Confessions of a Dangerous Mind” (2002) dir. George Clooney

Television made him famous, but his biggest hits happened off screen. "Confessions of a Dangerous Mind" is the story of a legendary showman's double life--television producer by day, CIA assassin by night. At the height of his TV career, Chuck Barris was recruited by the CIA and trained to become a covert operative. Or so Barris said. Directed by George Clooney from a screenplay by Charlie Kaufman (“Being John Malkovich” and “Adaptation”), this film is guaranteed to have you wondering where truth ends and fiction begins. Rated R. 113 min.
