Guidelines for Mystic-L Book Reviews

Thank you for agreeing to review a book for Mystic-L, the academic
discussion of mysticism on theInternet. You will find below the
guidelines necessary to write your review. Please pay particular
attentionto #6. 

1) Completed reviews should be between 750 and 1500 words. Longer
reviews are acceptable, but remember that most people will not want
to read something exceptionally long. Reviews should be nobriefer
than 750 words.

2) The audience for your review is the membership of Mystic-L,
mostly academics, some clerics, and someindependent scholars.
Please consider this when your write your review. Following list
rules, your reviewshould not be devotional in nature. Use a
professional and scholarly style. If you have any questions, notify
David A. Salomon, listowner.

3) Send your completed review to David A. Salomon as an e-mail
message in ASCII text format (or,alternately, on a PC disk in
either WordPerfect or Word format); relevant addresses are listed
below.

4) The header of each review should include complete bibliographic
information (including total pagecount). The reviewer's name,
e-mail address and institution (if appropriate) are to be placed
below the bibliographic data. A sample header will look like this: 
   Jones, Douglas. _The Progress of the Soul: The Influence of
     Meister Eckhart on Evelyn Underhill._(New York: ABC Books,
     1997). 233 pp.

5) Please note that the underscore _ is used to indicate
underlining. Do not mark up your review with HTML tagging. 

6) Your completed review is to be sent, via e-mail, to David A.
Salomon, DavidSalomon@bhsu.edu. DO NOT SEND YOUR REVIEW TO
MYSTIC-L. If you need to use snail mail, send your disk in
aprotected envelope to David A. Salomon, Department of English
U-9063, Black Hills State University, Spearfish, SD 57799, USA.

7) Receipt of the review will be acknowledged through e-mail. The
review will then be assigned a reference number and will be posted
to the list as well as to an assigned place on the Mystic-L web
page where a link to the publisher will also be added. Reviews will
stay on the web page for an undetermined period of time.

8) Completed reviews should be submitted to David A. Salomon no
later than four months after receipt of your book. If your review
will be delayed, notify Salomon as soon as possible. His e-mail is
