Review Essay Guidelines
Choose one of the optional texts. You are to write a review of the chosen text for a philosophy of science journal. Your audience is composed of philosophers of science, not scientists, so scientific jargon should be avoided as much as possible.
Here is the letter from the editor:
Thank you for agreeing to review this book. We ask reviewers to provide an accurate, balanced description of the contents relevant for our audience (i.e., philosophers of science) and its method of treatment, together with evaluation of its significance. Reviews should be between 4 (full) and 6 pages in length, double-spaced, one inch margins, 12 point Times New Roman font.
In general, the journal follows the rules of style as set forth by the Modern Language Association. Please use double-spacing for the header and the text. We include page references for all quotations from the book being reviewed in parentheses without "p." or "pp." Footnotes cannot be included in reviews. For the header, please adapt the following format:
Jane Doe. Title of the Book. Place: University Press, 2001. X + 200 pp. + 8 illus. $60.00. Review by YOUR NAME, University.
Your review is due Wednesday, March 3. It must also be uploaded to turnitin.com.
