I am currently Department Chair, English Program Coordinator, and Associate Professor of English, teaching Medieval and Renaissance literature at Russell Sage College in Troy, New York. For the 2007-08 academic year, I am the Harder-McClellan Endowed Chair in Humanities. Prior to my years in Troy, I taught English, Humanities, Religion, Philosophy, and--on occasion--French for five years at Black Hills State University in Spearfish, South Dakota. I received my PhD in English literature from The University of Connecticut where I taught for nine years. I was born in the Bronx, New York, and I'm sure I'll always be a New Yorker at heart, regardless of where I live.
My wife, Kelly O'Connor-Salomon, also teaches at the Sage Colleges. She teaches English courses as an adjunct; her research interests lay in the Celtic Middle Ages, particularly Medieval Welsh language and literature, and she is working on her PhD in Medieval Welsh with the University of Wales at Lampeter.
We have a wonderful daughter, Phoebe, who was born July 7, 2003.
Here is the late but still great psycho-kitty named Nimue. We now have a cat named Zabar--named after the infamous deli in my beloved New York City.
A journey through this web site should give you a better idea of what I'm all about. Nevertheless, if your curiosity has really been piqued, here is a copy of my complete Curriculum Vitae in downloadable Word format.
