The Corporate Connections Scholarship Program

corpconnect1105

Corporate Connections is a joint venture between The Sage Colleges and many generous corporate partners located both in the Capital Region and across the Country. The mission of the Corporate Connections Scholarship Program is to provide financial assistance to students approaching their final years of study in the form of named annual scholarships valued at $1,000 per student. Eligible students must be enrolled on a full-time basis, must have demonstrated financial need (as determined by Sage’s Financial Aid Office), must have at least a 3.0 GPA (i.e., a “B” average or better), and must be from the Greater Capital Region.

Need for Funding:

The Corporate Connections Scholarship Program has provided financial assistance to over 950 Sage students, amounting to almost $1 million in total scholarship award money. The students who receive these scholarships are among those from the Capital Region with the highest financial need. Given the economic challenges facing these students and their families as they attempt to afford the cost of a college education, it is necessary for them to receive scholarship support from multiple resources. Contributions from Capital Region businesses and companies play a critically important role in Sage’s ability to help these students earn their college degrees.

How will the Funding Benefit the Quality of Life in the Community:

The Sage Colleges’ graduates are employed everywhere throughout the Capital Region as educators, health care professionals, engineers, business owners and executives, lawyers, public officials, and more. The Corporate Connections Scholarship Program directly supports academically qualified Sage students who have financial need, helping them to complete their college education and ultimately become influential to the success of the Capital Region economy.

How the Program Succeeds:

The Corporate Connections Scholarship Program operates collaboratively between The Sage Colleges’ Office of Institutional Advancement and a committee of business leaders from the Greater Capital Region. This committee includes individuals representing an array of industries and professions. In order to increase the number of Corporate Connections scholarships and enhance the relationship with Capital Region businesses and foundations, The Sage Colleges works with the committee to maximize visibility of, solicitations for, and participation in Corporate Connections scholarships. For the 2015-16 Academic Year, Corporate Connections presented a total 104 scholarships (up from 90 the previous year) to outstanding students from the Capital Region. The program enjoyed its 3rd record breaking year, which saw the addition of 24 new corporate and foundation partners, and an overall growth of almost 100% since 2012. Corporate Connections continues to grow each year as more and more companies see the direct impact the program has on both the ability of students to graduate college, and the recognition it brings to participating companies.
