Former INVEST intern receives Leader of Tomorrow award
Sage is proud to announce that Lindsay Tucker will receive a Leader of Tomorrow Award from the Center for Economic Growth in Albany, NY during the 15th Annual Technology Awards Luncheon on June 29.
The Leader of Tomorrow Award recognizes a student intern who has made a significant contribution to his or her company, going above and beyond the expectations of his or her employer.
In fall 2010, Tucker was selected for a marketing internship at Greane Tree Technology, a client company of the Incubator for New Ventures in Emerging Sciences and Technologies (INVEST) at Sage and the Esteves Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. She worked with software and database applications as well as social media marketing to help grow the business.
Tucker said that this type of experience in a start-up company – available to Sage students through INVEST – is attractive to global technology, business and science giants like GE, where she landed a competitive internship this spring. “Every employee at a small company is vital and can make or break that business,” she said, explaining that her position in GE’s payroll operations department demands the same work ethic.
A Long Island native (Westbury, NY) Tucker is pursuing her master’s degree in Organizational Management at Sage’s School of Management and has a perfect 4.0 grade point average. She was nominated for the CEG award by Tom Keane, director of INVEST and dean of the School of Management, Daniel Robeson.
Tucker has worked in the School of Management office as a part-time graduate assistant for the past year, handling technical issues related to the website, strategic initiatives focusing on student outreach, and other organization tasks related to communication with students.
This month, she will travel to China with the Sage School of Management’s annual study trip to the Shanghai Institute of Foreign Trade (SIFT), with which Sage has a formal alliance.
