Audience Talkback with Rachel Maines, Ph.D.

Following the 2 p.m. performance of In the Next Room (or The Vibrator Play), hear from the author of The Technology of Orgasm, which was a principal source of research for The Vibrator Play and the film Hysteria. Rachel Maines, Ph.D. is a visiting scientist at Cornell University’s School of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Her work covers the history of technology, with specializations in needlework and the Industrial Revolution, asbestos and building codes, and the development of vibrator for treating hysteria.
