"For Colored Girls"

For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf by Ntozake Shange is a piece of African American History. A series of 20 poems collectively called a "choreopoem" takes us on a journey through the many struggles and obstacles seven women faced.

For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf by Ntozake Shange is a piece of African American History. A series of 20 poems collectively called a "choreopoem" takes us on a journey through the many struggles and obstacles seven women faced. These women are only known by colors no true names need to be given because these women can be any of us. Poems dealing with rape, betrayl amd abandonment take us on a journey through sisterhood. By the end of the play all of the characters joint together to celebrate their womenhood. Recently adapted as a film by Tyler Perry "For Colored Girlss" has and will continue to touch the hearts of many.
