This year marks the 10th Annual Northeast United States Conference on Character Education on Thursday, November 5. The event is co-sponsored by The Academy for Character Education at The Sage Colleges and Capital Region BOCES. The conference is a comprehensive convention featuring 28 breakout sessions and Dr. Thomas Lickona, the leading authority in character education and the keynote speaker this year. In the past, character education focused on school culture and anti-violence. Dr. Lickona's research on performance character has enriched character education to include strategies for improving academics.
The conference also features two National Schools of Character as presenters and three National School of Character administrators. The conference is bursting at the seams with information, ideas, and skills for educators to take away on character development and school improvement.
The conference will be held at The Sage College of Albany on New Scotland Ave. on November 5, 2009. Registration begins at 7:15 a.m. and the first breakout session convenes at 8:00 a.m. The last breakout ends at 3:50 p.m. followed by a roundtable discussion until 4:30. The cost of the conference is $169 per person including lunch for the entire day. If you and/or a colleague have any interest in attending the event, please contact The Academy directly at 518-244-2336 as soon as possible to register.
