Based on a true story of sex trafficking as reported by Nicholas Kristoff in his Pulitzer Prize-winning book Half the Sky, SoulCry! offered a work-in-progress presentation at Russell Sage on National Human Trafficking Awareness Day in 2013 which resulted in ongoing meetings with Sage faculty and local councilmen to develop creative and collaborative approaches for combatting the multi-billion dollar criminal industry which preys on children and young women here in the U.S. and around the world.
The WORLD Series is a year-long lecture series for first-year Russell Sage students, the campus community and the public, focusing on topics of global and national importance, women's lives, science and technology, and the arts. WORLD stands for “Women Owning Responsibility for Learning and Doing.”
